The science behind healing
RTT and the subconscious mind
Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT) is a form of neuroscience that replaces negative networks with healthy ones, making it a powerful force for achieving health and wellbeing.
RTT uses hypnosis as an inroad. The form of relaxation experienced under hypnosis is essentially a quieting of the nervous system.
It induces a relaxed state of mind, a space for communication between the conscious and unconscious minds, as well as a heightened state of suggestibility.
Researchers theorise that during hypnosis, we experience far more of our brain’s tremendous ability, as compared to what is usually blocked by conscious, left-brain dominance.
Somatic Experiencing and the nervous system
Somatic Experiencing (SE) is grounded in neuroscience and the biology of the autonomic nervous system.
Developed by Dr Peter Levine, it draws on the understanding that trauma is not a disorder of the mind — it is an incomplete physiological response.
When the body’s survival mechanisms are activated but cannot fully discharge, that energy remains stored in the nervous system, shaping how we breathe, move, relate, and feel.
Working with the body’s capacity for self-regulation
Research on Somatic Experiencing has demonstrated its effectiveness in reducing symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, and chronic stress, with studies showing measurable changes in brain activity and nervous system function following treatment.
It is recognised internationally as an evidence-informed approach to trauma resolution.
The science behind hypnosis and somatic experiencing
The science behind hypnosis and somatic experiencing (SE) is impressive and expanding.
Public bodies have incorporated hypnotherapy into their portfolio of treatments, particularly around anxiety, childbirth and depression.
Research institutions and trauma clinicians worldwide have embraced SE for its effects on PTSD, anxiety, and chronic stress.
Both modalities are becoming more mainstream, supported by a growing body of peer-reviewed literature demonstrating positive outcomes across a broad range of physical and psychological conditions.

The research can help explain the mechanisms behind the work, but your own experience is always individual. If you would like to explore how these approaches may relate to what you are experiencing, you are welcome to reach out.
